ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Communications Manager for Egypt you will lead all external communication streams for this market. Part of your job is to build a solid press network and maintain press relations with key influencers and Tier 1 outlets. You are responsible for building a strategy for your area, based on and aligned with the overall business strategy. It is your responsibility to regularly get in touch with internal stakeholders, be it cross functional teams, local leadership or basecamp colleagues, in order to receive updates on plans and activities and make sure to share your own plans and priorities. You will be managing ad hoc press queries, develop PR campaigns, conduct events and prepare spokespeople to be able to talk on Careem’s behalf. You have to be able to track, measure and interpret your activities across all areas and use those insights to hit OKRs and develop next steps. You have to have a strong understanding of the local media landscape, current topics in the market and be able to adjust the market narrative accordingly. You are the eyes and ears of Careem, making sure Careem speaks with one voice, creating impact! 

Press & Media 

• Build strong relationships with media and influencers to drive coverage 
• Strong understanding of media local media landscape 
• Staying up to date with current topics & trends across media 
• Build and protect Careem’s reputation through thoughtful, well planned and integrated communications that support both the communications and GR agendas
• Plan events and press outreach for your local markets
• Manage media partnerships requests

Strategy & Plan 

• Build & execute strategy, plan and narrative for local market (based on business objectives) 
• Track, Measure and Interpret Media insights
• Drive proactive media relations to secure coverage and drive positive impact with press
• Manage, mitigate and handle crisis management and key issues facing the business
• Handle media trainings and briefings
• Manage external agencies & partnerships
• Manage PR budgets
• Work with cross-functional business partners to meet their business objectives
