Procurement Manager - EDECS

Introduction

EDECS is a regional industry-leading engineering and construction contractor focused on marine constructions, infrastructure, large-scale earthworks, water treatment plants, water desalination plants, railways, roads, and bridge works. As part of our organizational and transformation initiatives, we’re looking to add a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Manager to oversee our procurement operations across our projects.

As the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process for all construction projects, including sourcing materials and equipment, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
• Source and purchase materials and equipment required for construction projects.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure the best possible terms and pricing.
• Manage supplier relationships and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures, including ethical and legal standards.
• Monitor and analyze market trends and pricing to ensure the company's procurement operations are competitive and cost-effective.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and suppliers.
• Manage procurement budgets and report on procurement activities to senior management.
• Develop and maintain a network of local and international suppliers to ensure a reliable and diverse supply chain.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to identify procurement needs and specifications for each project.
• Use data analysis and forecasting to anticipate procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Monitor and report on supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and pricing.
• Devise and implement measures to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Manage the procurement team and ensure they are trained and equipped to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
• Develop and implement an inventory management system to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize waste.
• Formulate and execute sustainability initiatives, including sourcing environmentally-friendly materials and reducing waste.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as civil engineering.
• At least 8 years of experience in procurement management in the construction industry.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
• Knowledge of procurement policies and procedures, including ethical and legal standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage procurement budgets and report on procurement activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
