Accounting Associate - BRANTU

Job Purpose:

You will be responsible for all accounting transactions (payable, receivable, payroll and General Ledger entries). Understanding how the BRANTU and the industry operates is key to ensuring seamless, compliant and accurate accounting operations and records across the company. Your success in this area is key to your development and exposure and integration within additional Finance functions within the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Review, record and document all accounting transactions (A/R, A/P & GL's) in compliance with BRANTU’s financial policies and procedures
• Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to processing
• Process payment requests including cash payments, checks, and bank transfers
• Verification, classification, computing, posting and recording all accounting operations data on BRANTU’s financial reporting systems (FRS), generating reports as required
• Reconcile accounts ensuring all payments are accounted for and properly posted
• Proactively eliminate discrepancies by escalating identified differences to management
• Understand variances and ensure proper postings (accruals/returns/refunds/etc) on BRANTU’s FRS
• Assist in month-end closing
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and legal accounting practices
• Compute taxes owed and prepare tax payments/returns, ensuring compliance and adherence to reporting and tax requirements
• Assist in preparation of operating budgets and periodical reviews
• Assist in support of external audit, including preparation of audit requests and ongoing support
• Coordinate with cross-functional partners to facilitate streamlined processes
• Support senior staff members in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests and other tasks as assigned

About You:

• A Bachelor’s Degree holder in Finance or Accounting
• 1-2 years of experience demonstrated across AP, AR and GL
• Thorough knowledge of VAT laws and return/refund accounting processes
• Previous work experience in eCommerce and/or consumer retail industries is prioritized
• Experience working with Finance Reporting Systems and ERPs is a must (Quickbooks or a similar accounting software)
• Must be detail oriented, able to solve problems and multitask
• Understanding of EAS is a must & General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is a plus
• Experience in Microsoft with a strong emphasis on Excel is a must (VLooksUps, Pivot Tables, etc..)
• Ability to operate independently and as part of a larger functional team
• Startup Experience preferred
